Major (Retired) M. Cort Stargell

Major (Retired) M. Cort Stargell has been serving as a member of the Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) Senior Aerospace Science Instructor (ASI) team at Cedar Hill High School since August 2021. 

Major Stargell served on Active Duty in the U.S. Air Force for 27 years.  He enlisted right after high school and spent the first 15 years as an Enlisted member earning the rank of Technical Sergeant before being selected to attend Officer Training School (OTS).  After OTS, he served the next 12 years as an Cyberspace Operations Officer and retired as a Major.  During his career, Major Stargell coordinated ground and air emergency response actions, trained personnel on Operation Center procedures, developed exercise scenarios, taught ROTC at University of Nebraska-Omaha, and managed basewide network communications. Prior to retirement, Major Stargell was the Operations Flight Commander in the Communications Squadron at Geilenkirchen Air Base, Germany.  

Major Stargell retired in February 2014.  After retirement, Major Stargell spent eight years running his family insurance and real estate business and as Vice President and Board Member at Farmer State Bank in Lake View, IA.  He moved back home to Texas to help take care of a family member and started in August 2021 as Senior Aerospace Science Instructor (SASI) with Cedar Hill High School Air Force JROTC, Unit TX-957.  Major Stargell is excited to help mentor, guide and prepare the next leaders of our nation.
