Course Description: Art I is an introductory studio course into art where scholars will explore various mediums, materials and techniques while applying their new found knowledge of the elements and principles of design. In this course, students will create original works of art and explore different art styles to showcase their art portfolio towards the end of the year. 

Art 3 and 4 is a Honors studio art course that will continue to expand on their knowledge learned during Art 1 to create original works of art and take a look into various art cultures for a deeper understanding of the evolution of art and inspiration for future projects. 



Student Expectations: 

  • Arrive on time and be ready to CREATE

  • Use time wisely in order to complete assignments

  • Keep the art space clean 

  • Check Schoology and Email for important updates

  • Never give up = Ask for help if needed

  • Keep phones put away while students and teacher are presenting or speaking

Grades:

  • Major Projects/Assignments = 40%

  • Daily assignments/ Classwork = 60%

Although Major Projects count as 40% of the students' grade, this percentage holds the weight of a Test grade making it just as important as daily activities needing to be completed to successfully pass. 

Daily Assignments/Classwork will include, bellringers, participation, sketchbook checks at the end of the 6 weeks and project critiques to track students progress throughout the course.

Required Materials:

  • 9 x 12 Sketchbook (Mandatory)

  • 1 white Paper Poster (Gloss, Form or cardboard not permitted)

  • Number 2 Pencils

 The items below are not required but will be for personal use for future assignments. Materials will be locked up to be kept safe:

  • Paint brushes

  • Watercolors

  • Sharpener

  • Black and Red Sharpie Marker

  • Colored Pencils

  • Markers
