Madame K. Burch

Bienvenue! I am a native of Louisiana, where the heart of Creole French culture, cuisine, and the preservation of the French language is richly noted, it is my pleasure to guide scholars through the francophone world. I discovered my lifelong love of language while in Intermediate school and through my high school years. During those years, I competed academically in French I & II on a district level and state level with scholars across the state of Louisiana and placed many times. My love for children paired with my passion for French led to my college matriculation where I obtained a Bachelor of Science in Family & Consumer Science/Early Childhood Education and a minor in French. I have taught French at the elementary level in Kindergarten. I have also taught ELA and writing in Fourth grade, gaining many tools for effective teaching and helping scholars grow academically and socially. Additionally, I have been working in education since 2004, including the Special Education domain in grades 3-6. My teaching mantra is "Chaque enfant peut apprendre, a sa maniere, en son temps". (Every child can learn, in his own way, in his own time.) Having traveled extensively, I have gained lifelong friendships with native French speakers in France and Canada and will teach my scholars from that repertoire. In my spare time (What's that?), I enjoy reading, writing poetry, listening to music, and spending time with my daughters, Milan and Demi. I am also a personal chef and caterer; my favorite cuisines are Caribbean and French.

I am proud to serve and to be a difference in my scholars' lives. As we say in Louisiana "Laissez les bon temps rouler!"
