Career and Technical Student Organizations

CTSOs turn what you learn in class into leadership, career skills, and real opportunities that prepare you for life after high school.

Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) are student-led organizations connected to Career & Technical Education (CTE) programs that help students apply what they learn in class to real-world careers. CTSOs such as Business Professionals of America, DECA, and others provide opportunities for students to explore careers, develop leadership skills, and gain hands-on experience through projects, competitions, and community involvement. They help students understand why their learning matters by connecting academics to real workplace expectations.

CTSO participation benefits high school students by building critical employability skills like communication, teamwork, professionalism, and problem-solving while boosting confidence and motivation. Students gain leadership experience, strengthen college and job applications, access scholarships, and develop a sense of belonging and purpose at school. Overall, CTSOs prepare students to be career- and college-ready by giving them real experiences, a professional mindset, and a competitive edge after graduation.
